This is Spacerpad
Spacerpad is a social enterprise with a vision to promote dignified menstrual health for all who menstruate. This means striving to ensure that all women have access to effective menstrual protection, regardless of their economic or environmental circumstances.
Our solution has evolved from offering a technically innovative, sustainable, and easy-to-maintain pad to encompassing a holistic concept that empowers women. Through close collaboration with local partners around the world, we enable local ownership of the production and distribution of Spacerpad products. This work supports industrial development, educational opportunities, and new employment – fostering sustainable development on multiple levels.
Currently, 500 million women and girls lack access to adequate menstrual products.

Our History
Spacerpad as a company and product was born out of a vision for more equal opportunities to maintain dignified menstrual hygiene, regardless of living conditions. The company was founded in 2019 after a couple of years of work on idea and concept development, where the question of how menstrual hygiene for girls, women, and menstruators could be facilitated was weighed against what textile products can solve.
A collaboration between the Health Academy and the School of Textiles at the University of Borås resulted in the realization of the idea of the smart menstrual cup, but in the form of a sanitary pad, to meet women’s need for an external protection that is easy to care for. Approximately 70% of the world’s population washes by hand and is therefore served by a sanitary protection that is easy to clean. If it is also quick-drying, it facilitates hygienic reuse, and as a woman, you can manage with a small number of products. Being able to manage with a few products becomes economically sustainable over time.
In addition to developing a product, we have in recent years worked on building partnerships with organizations that share our vision. This is necessary to reach the target group that has the greatest need for protection with Spacerpad’s unique properties. We believe that the UN’s global goals, including number 17 on global partnerships, are the way forward toward a fairer and more sustainable menstrual hygiene – for all who menstruate!
